Experience International Cultures Without Leaving D.C. at the World Embassy Tour on May 7th
05.01.2022Are you looking to embark on an international adventure, but not quite ready to board a flight just yet? The Around the World Embassy Tour is the next best thing! It’s coming back for 2022 with the same immersive multi-cultural experiences of years past on Saturday, May 7th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Every year, some of Washington’s embassies open their doors to the public in an effort to share their home country’s culture with the masses. For 2022, Algeria, Cameroon, and Kenya will represent Africa, with Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand showcasing Asian culture, and Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic repping the Caribbean. The nations and offered activities change from one year to the next, but in previous tours, guests have learned how to wrap a sari, practice karate, and perform international dance routines. Expect lots of food, dancing, and even fashion and art from each embassy. Note that the embassies all have different COVID requirements, so it’s important to bring a mask along and familiarize yourself with the specific rules before stepping inside.
